What can I do
You come out of school,and scream "I am free I can do what I like with my life".Every one who cares about your well being (parent,grands,uncles and not so distant cousins) have been lecturing you about the jungle that is
is out there and warnings about weather that is cold. Well knowing yourself you did not listen, or maybe you did but did not hear. You have been watching at the distance at people who have been working very hard or so
they thought to achieve things that you can clearly see. So wish you were in their shoes, then you hastily do your bit to acquire things that you and them can see, and you go on with life. You wake up one morning
probably on you forties you wonder why do you keep going where you go every morning, a dead end job that you don't even like. While you are there keep
seeing this person who appointed as your boss out of favour or guilt because they been hear for too long or to close to high authority and panic.
Then you realise you can not sit at edge of you bed for every you need to keep going. You grab your bags you get out.
When you get in the street that BB BEE guy you hate so much nearly bump you,and swear as usual but you continue journey. All of a sudden it hit you "I CAN DO BUSINESS" but big question is "WHAT CAN I DO"
Well you can do a lot of things but you need to think deeply about a few very impotent ones:
- Product or Service or both (What is a big Idea?)
- Who is going to consume what you providing or/and producing
Very impotent you need to find this person or group
You can not, repeat you can not go on before you find
this group
if you do not find this group(market) then you know you to think again
- Once you are convinced that you found this group
You need to weigh your chances by find out how many
members of this group are likely consume your goods or/and services(percentage %)
- The next Step you need to take that weight translate it to income
- What is going to cost you to embark on the this journey
Now when you do math(literally)here need come up with the positive
if you don't its bad news for you back to the drawing board
- If you do, good for you now you need a plan(a map)
How in Pete's name are you going to move from A -> Z
- How do you know if this plan is going to take you to your destination,
you don't. But you can get a hint when sell it
to would be your investors if they buy it.
They probably see it as you see it but even that is no guarantee.
- Once your plan has been bought by investors we call that a milestone
- Unfortunately there is one more plan you need to do to be a success, that is an A->B->C etc.
This plan is a little more specialized but very impotent your success is called project plan
- At this point you need to implement, monitor and control
Now remember, when you tell your family, friend, colleagues about your "BIG IDEA" the first question you are going to have to deal with is did you do your research.
Be careful when you answer that question. Remember every one knows what research is, but when you ask what is it exactly and how it is done
no one answers.
