LOCAL GOVERNANCE
Here is a simple question. Do you know your councillor, do you know members of the council committee, Do you communicate with them on regular bases? If the answer is no to all these questions. Then ask yourself one more question how are you hoping to have services delivered?
I believe that we must take some responsibility on why there is a poor service at our residential areas. Our problem is we wait until is too late and difficult to recover from a bad service delivery. We need to engage these councilors to a point where we know exact what project are planned which project are running and how are they progressing.
This mentality that we are going to continue with our normal business and complain to our neighbors in small talk on weekends, and then sent our unemployed community members to burn tires in the street when things go bad is not going to work.
I say we need to stop acting like spoiled little children and realize that we are paying these councilor to work not to enrich their families with nepotism and corruption. If they do well is our fault. We do not make them to account.
